U of T offers one of the most robust student financial aid programs in North America. Students have a number of ways to pay their university expenses, and we’re proud to say that U of T Mississauga has a number of support programs — from scholarships to work study programs — that help to ensure that finances not be a barrier to participating as a successful student.
GOVERNMENT FUNDING
Many governments have student loan and grant programs. In the province of Ontario, it is called the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP). OSAP is a needs-based program that provides student loan and grant assistance that supplements student and family resources. Students finishing high school prior to entering U of T Mississauga may also qualify for a Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship.
UTAPS
Unique to U of T is UTAPS (University of Toronto Advanced Planning for Students). It is a non-repayable form of assistance meant to address a student’s unmet need as calculated by government student assistance programs. This unique form of assistance is funded by U of T for students receiving government-subsidized provincial student loans. The UTAPS initiative highlights U of T’s commitment to removing financial barriers to education. UTAPS is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS
Automatic U of T Mississauga admissions awards are available to Canadian citizens/permanent residents registered in Canadian high schools. Awards of up to $3,000 are determined on final high school grades.

U of T has a variety of other scholarships available and offers grants for students who have unmet financial need and have exhausted all other means of financial support.

The Work Study Program is an on-campus, part-time employment program for students who have demonstrated financial need. Jobs offer up to 12 hours per week of work experience, often in fields related to your area of study or interest.

UTM HELPS STUDENTS SAVE MONEY
- A special bus pass provides for unlimited travel on Mississauga Transit during the eight-month academic year, saving you hundreds of dollars.
- As part of the Navigating your first year, Financial Literacy seminars are offered to educate students regarding budgeting, money saving tips and maintaining a good credit rating
- OSAP workshops throughout the academic year are offered to inform students about the application, appeals and repayment.
- A fast and efficient loan distribution system assists students in becoming financially stable earlier in the semester.
- The UTM Undergraduate Grant is administered from October to March, to help students manage a balanced budget throughout the school year and attend to emergency situations.
